Festival of new fresh Polish films. The topic of this year’s edition is transformation.

How do we change, how does the world around us change, how do our desires change, where are the hidden passions, where are their limits, what is reality and where does our imagination reach?

Movies for mothers, grandmothers, sons, grandchildren or aunts. For all generations and even your alter-ego. We invite you to the third Sunday of Advent on 15th December to Bia Oko on Letná.

Kaitek is an ordinary boy who likes listening to stories, escaping into fantasy worlds and often imagines what it would be like if he had superpowers.

After his mom dies, he is left to live with his grandma and dad and one day he discovers that he has magical powers. A family film directed by Magdalena Lazarkiewicz, based on a 100-year-old novel by Janusz Korczak, made in a Czech-Polish-Slovak co-production.

Young Polish actor Eryk Biedunkiewicz makes his debut in the lead role, with Martin Hofmann as the dark magician.

BARDZO FAJNÝ ANIMATION WORKSHOP for children 6-12 yo

Czech, Polish, 120 minutes

Time: Sunday, December 15, 2024, 16:30 – 18:30

Children will go on an animation cruise, during which they will make paper puppets and characters that they will learn to move in the story. As a result of their joint creation, they will make short films together, which will be shown on the cinema screen after the workshop.

The workshop will be led by illustrator, animator and lecturer Aleksandra Griz Antkowiak, who creates author’s books and runs animation courses. The work of their teams has been awarded at children’s film festivals, and this year they received the main prize at Animania 2024 in Pilsen.

Entry: 200 CZK.

The story takes place during Poland’s transition from communism to capitalism and spans 45 years in the life of Aniela Wesołé, who spent more than half of her adult life living as a man in a provincial Polish town. Aniela’s journey toward personal freedom as a transgender woman unveils challenges in marriage and parenthood, strained family relationships, and the complex attitudes of those around her, who continually place her in insurmountable situations.

What decisions will Aniela have to make? Will she be prepared to sacrifice everything to become who she truly is?
